'Section' was created for a vinyl cover project for the Hi-NRG microgenre.  The typeface is inspired by the technological aspect of the way the music is created and also the theme of future technology. The idea behind the construction of the letterforms was to look at the way circuit boards are built, as they are the basis of the electronic instruments used to create the HI-NRG music. A grid consisting of only horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines similarly to the circuit lines, was used to construct the serif letter forms. Choosing to accentuate the serifs using diagonal lines helped to imply a sharpness to these letterforms as well as a slight sense of movement, a part of the music that couldn’t be ignored.
